Twenty things about how you learn

Twenty facts about the machine you think with. Flip one, try one, keep the ones that land.

The short version

  • This is a deck of twenty findings from learning science. Each card holds one fact and one small thing you can actually do with it.
  • Pick a card at random, shuffle for a different one, or read them in order. Mark the ones you want to keep and copy them out at the end.
  • Nothing is saved and nothing is sent. What you mark exists only while this page is open.

Most advice about studying assumes the problem is effort. Usually the problem is fit: you are running a specific, physical learning system without knowing much about how it works. None of the facts below are tricks. They are the settled parts of the research, how memory strengthens, how attention narrows, how the brain rewires itself when you practise. Read one, do the one-line experiment, and see whether it changes anything for you.
